Sharing: sending your data anywhere you need it
Every marker, track, route, and photo you save in Aqua Map can be shared, whether that's with another device of your own, a friend, or the wider Aqua Map community. You'll find the sharing button on the info page of any of these items, or from the Search page in Edit mode, where you can select multiple items at once and share them together.
Your Sharing Options
Tap the share button , and you'll be given four destinations to choose from:
- GEC Account. If you're logged in, upload your markers, tracks, photos, and routes straight to your GEC Account. Handy for reviewing a trip later with friends, or just freeing up space on your device without losing anything;
- Public Folder. Also requires being logged into your GEC Account, this uploads your data to the Public Folder section of your account, making it visible to every Live Sharing user and keeping anyone following it automatically synced to your latest version;
- Live Sharing. If Live Sharing is enabled, send data directly to another Live Sharing user through Aqua Map's built-in chat;
- Share. This opens your device's standard sharing screen, letting you send the file to any app you like, email, Dropbox, another navigation app, whatever you need.
Whichever option you pick, you'll be asked to choose a format: GPX or KMZ. Both come with a small trade-off worth knowing about: GPX can't export photos, and KMZ can't export speed information, so pick whichever format keeps what matters most for that particular file.
Once you've chosen a format, uploading to your GEC Account finishes the job right there. For every other option, you'll get one more step: choosing exactly who or where the data goes.
